Come From Away Grand Rapids Theatre reviews
Good music! Good show!
One of the masters is Rod Stewart, of course. Golden were the songs, of course. If you know what I mean, his music, you know. Some really good stuff you misses, if you don't.
A section with 2 saxophones and a trumpet, and a percussion section (all superb musicians), in addition to 2 killer guitarists, bass and drums, the band was great. Phenomenal! They each did little solos, and were phenomenally talented, 3 female backup singers there were, and a violinist. For a few songs, he had a string ensemble from local musicians sit in. More than one instrument or singing as well as playing, most of these folks were multi-talented.
He did rocking numbers, an acoustic group, and gave everyone in the band a chance to "strut their stuff". Phenomenal!
Also, but what struck me here, was how good the audiences was: on pitch, in tune, and in unison -- we knew the songs, totally, he paused his singing, and the band paused playing, from time to time, so we could all hear the audience singing the songs. Other artists do this also.
With 7 smaller ones in front, one big video screen was the stage background, and a section of video clip about his younger years and family, the backgrounds were well done. He also did a bit for the "wounded warrior" project. Total class.
